This is my September 11 quilt. I will always be grateful to the many quilt designers who put this and other patterns up for free right after that horrible day. Sewing this was calming for me, and helped me feel productive, if even in a small way, during a time of so much sadness. It goes up on a wall every summer and I'll take it down soon after September 11. I hope it stirs some patriotic feelings in my family and maybe even my blog readers.

That is beautiful... I did a lot of baking during that day and the aftermath. I guess we all have our way of relaxing and thinking... that's mine.
love your quilt, & the colors!
hugs
p.s. what pattern is it.
I love this quilt! Great job! I, too, would love to know the pattern. A Judy Martin?
I like that you chose such a meaningful way to remember.
My oldest daughter was exactly one week old the day the towers fell. So I took care of her and wondered how her world would be different because of what happened.
I also spent the weeks afterward sewing, mostly blocks to send to the US for various comfort quilt projects.
After seeing your post, I wrote a bit about the sewing I did then.
