Dear Son

There are unwritten laws of the universe. One of them states that if you have trail mix, you have to eat it all mixed up together in each bite. A peanut, a raisin, an m&m. You are not supposed to separate them out. Furthermore, you are not supposed to ever sort m&ms by color. That's just wrong.

If you do something like this, you will be photographed because, as your sister Drama Girl told you, "that's so weird mommy's going to blog about it."

16 people stopped folding laundry to write:

My 12-year-old daughter did the same thing with her trail mix yesterday! What is this world coming to? ;0)

Tell Jungle Boy I've got his back. I liked to sort my M&M's by color, too. And then made sure there were even numbers, and then ate them in pairs.

Yeah, kind of weird, but at least not in a pathological way. Just 'cause. :-)

No, weird would be if he graphed the items, then compared it to see if another bag had the same ratios. Because that would be obsessive and not anything I've ever done myself ;)

hmmmm.....i have ALWAYS sorted my m & m's by color. It's very important to eat the yuckiest colors first and work your way up to the best. And....I had my kindergarten class graph them as a math project!

LOL, the comments are as funny as the post!
I don't sort m&ms, but the company lies...they DO melt in your hand...if you are so inclined to put each candy between your fingers, make a loose fist, and wait for the chocolate to melt...which expands and cracks the outside candy shell...
YUM.

I too, have always sorted my M&Ms by color, but luckily, no one has yet blogged about it.

Please check my blog for a surprise!

lol, I have an almost 12 yo that will section out foodstuffs. Along with other items. His obsessions started when he was young with hot wheels. We are currently blaming my FIL for his slight OCD issues (lol)

But blogging about it? hmmm May end up to be a good posting like yours :o)

Yup.
This behavior must be stopped. :)
Ya gotta get the chocolate, salty, nutty goodness all in one bite.

I used to sort "Smarties" by colour- they're like M+Ms. The best were the orange ones as they had used orange flavour chocolate for them, so they were saved until last. I think it shows he is exploring what goes in to make something- definately a good thing.

I can't say I have ever poured my trail mix out and sorted it, but I grab one piece out of the bag at a time. Same difference! It's cute tho that your daughter knew you would want to blog about it! :)

For all my OCD patterns of behavior this is one where I can eat by the handfull!

well, I mean, I DO sort gummi bears and skittles by color... but That's just cuz THOSE are different FLAVORS. SO, so yah, your daughter is right, that kid is weird.

Nancy said...

Hmm. I'm a sorter as well. Skittles too. :)

The only thing I'll put together is the M&Ms and pretzels. . . everything else must be either eaten alone (peanuts) or tossed (raisins ;) )

Too funny that your kids knew you'd blog about it hehe

I always sort my M&M's by color, I arrange them ROYGBIV - or as close as I can, eat them until they are even. For example if the yellows have the lowest number and that number is 8, I eat the rest in color order until they number 8. I one time had a pkg with NO yellow. I called it my miracle bag.

I'm teaching my kids to do the same. And no, I'm not seeing anyone about it.

I ALWAYS sort my M&M's by color... My friends look at me like I'm weird. I'm not, right?

Add me to the always sorts the m&m's by color list.

This is even more important with skittles!
