Stitching Endurance

I enjoy several active stitching and quilting groups on facebook.  I love to see the progress people make over time and as you know if you spend any time on social media, sometimes friends you meet through the internet can become real friends.

I am always amazed at the productivity of some women who do cross stitch.  I've come to realize that I just really have limits.  I make myself sit for one hour increments but after that, I have to get up and move and stretch and then sometimes I get pulled into other commitments for the day and I don't get back to it, however much I try.

I can quilt for hours and lose track of the time.  I can sit in front of the television and binge-watch a show and crochet miles of yarn.  But cross stitch is exhausting to me for some reason.

Tonight I only have a little bit left on this Autumn Harvest Festival, but I just don't think I can do it.  Ugh!  But it's supposed to be fun, so it's not worth working on it if it's going to seem like a chore.  It will just have to wait until tomorrow.  Then I'll probably get it done in about 15 minutes.

I'd love to hear if this happens to you with some kind of craft you work on.  Let me know in the comments.

That's so so pretty! You were right not to finish it when you weren't enjoying it. Save it for your next stitching session.
I wish I was distracted more when I stitch, I can sit for hours stitching away and lose all track of time!

Your work it beautiful. I agree with you though, if you are not enjoying working on it put it away.

I find cross stitching slow and laborious, but I persist in doing a little from time to time. Maybe, with practise, when I find it easier to follow a chart I'll be faster, but I'm always checking and re-checking I've got it right - I hate unpicking mistakes.

I can only do so much EPP at a time, otherwise my fingers start to get a little stiff. And I get twitchy and want to move around.
