I love Fiestaware dishes. I would feature them on Vintage Thingies Thursday but my collection isn't really old.
But I have this itsy bitsy problem: I like to wander through a local thrift store, and if I find any Fiestaware I just. Cannot. Resist. I consider it my duty to rescue it.
I also can't bring myself to match them up. The whole beauty of Fiestaware is the mixy-matchyness of it. The kids know that a good way to drive me crazy Is to sort the dishes by color in the cupboards.
The urge to buy happened again a few days ago at the thrift store. Cups and saucers! Mix and match! Bargain-priced!
My husband just rolls his eyes. Apparently he thinks you should actually use all the cups and saucers you already own.
I have visions of of using them to make cute little birdfeeders on stakes for the garden.
Who am I kidding. I'm just going to stack them higher in the cupboards.

Responses to yesterdays comments on About That Harp:
Cheryl, I do need to get around to writing my harp history. There's a lot of material there. Marcy, I'm actually really camera-shy. There are no pictures of me around the house. If I went missing the family would have to give the police an old high school yearbook photo or something. Katrina, yeah! I'm so glad somebody understands! I guess it's like some men yearn for fabulous sports cars. Hope you get your piano someday! Good N Crazy, I figure if I just tell the kids they can't go to college, it's do-able. Denise, yes I play it, but I mostly dust it and remind myself that I should play it more. Laura, we could do duets! noble pig, maybe if I borrowed my husbands American Express. Nancy, the closest I'll get will probably be seeing it from afar *sigh*. Scary Mommy, now you do know a harpist!

14 people stopped folding laundry to write:
How cheerful your cupboards must look! (Had to laugh at your kids knowing how to push your buttons!)
On the giraffe tongue question, I'll have to track down a picture and post...let your kids fight it out when they see it!
I love urges...such a happy place to be...and your cupboards as well, so colorful and cheerful!
Your picture reminds me of Easter! And I actually thought maybe I should buy some as Easter Dishes, knowing I don't use half the dishes I already have.
I think Lucy Ricardo drank out of cups like that.
I adore Fiestaware!! That purple tea pot alone is worth an enormous sigh of happiness. You can never have too many saucers.
If I ruled my home (well, we all know who the queen is, but I mean, if I ruled alone...) that is what all of my cupboards would look like. Fiestaware, huh? I may have to hit the thrift stores this week...
I don't collect fiestaware but I amass dishes and serving platters in epic proportions! I'm shameless. I could furnish the kitchen of 18 apartments! But like you I love it and I can't get enough!
Oh I'm the same! I love them for when we go camping! We call them duraware here and the colours are fab! I've seen alot of turquoise, peach and sage green here :-)
Wow.. I love them in the pastels like that. Terrific collection. I have yellow.. and nothing else. Hmmm.. going thrifting friday....
What a fun cupboard! And I'm the same way with books...must rescue from the bookstore. Is that a valid excuse for having far more books then I could read in a year. Or two...
Thank you for entering my giveaway. BTY, I also love Fiestaware and yes, the best part are different colors!! Jane
Ok sorry BTY means by the yard, I ment to type BTW, to much sewing for me! Jane
I love the idea of stakes in the yard... I've made candles out of fiesta ware (using only the chipped ones!) Beautiful and fun!!
Ooooh I LOVE that Fiesta ware. Can you get it in the UK? I'm off right now to look.
