Wordful Wednesday: Stray Sock Pets

Angie over at 7 Clown Circus is hosting Wordful Wednesday, for those of us who can't post a picture without a caption.

My kids know me pretty well. When Wasabi Girl went to the bookstore with my husband to pick out a book for me for a Christmas gift, she picked out one she knew I'd like:

Stray Sock Sewing. How to make cute critters out of socks. Genius. Of course, who has the most stray socks in the house? Drama Girl. I don't think she's worn a pair of socks that matched for years now. She glommed onto the book right away and disappeared into her bedroom with it Christmas day. She came out later with this:

Within the next few days, she'd created a whole family:

I realized later that the one on the right is one of my socks. I think these two look like they could be characters in a children's book. I'm going to tell her she needs to write one now.

34 people stopped folding laundry to write:

She made those? Amazing. And yes they are adorable. Tell her to please write a book -then place them in mini scenes and photograph. Then upload to Shutterfly to make a book!!!

I am so impressed. So great.

Those are pretty neat! Do you think a 7 year old could manage that? We have TONS on mismatched socks here, too.

These are the cutest things ever!! How clever.

The ones around our house would be sorta boring..white socks for me and grey socks for my husband....I guess we could make ghost and donkeys!!
Love this idea however!

What a crafty gal!!!! Both you at making the critters and your daughter thinking, no KNOWING, just what you'd like.

My Wordful is an update on Winston's Ladybug stool. Come on over if you can, I so love visitors and their comments!!! Happy day to you.

I kind of miss that elf.
Maybe these guys could do a little skit each week to entertain your audience.
C'mon.
You know you want to.

First - I miss the elf.

Second - I'm now on a mission to find and procure this book. Our house has crazy amounts of stray socks. Plus baby socks that no one here will ever wear again. (Stop the tears, Steph. Three is enough.)

IOW, I NEED that book. Right?

Hmmm, seems the artistic apple fell quite closely to the talented tree....

A children's book (or aminated series) is very much in order...

Those sock creations are wonderful. My 12 year old (Jessica) loves them. I will have to look out for that book because we have so many odd socks here we could make a whole zoo out of them! Please get Drama girl to write the book. That would be great.

I'm new you your site from WW and thank you for visiting my place today. Of course I was first curious about your blog name. Yikes, I was really impressed with the 3 under 2 concept...then saw they were older now..a little more relaxed..then I thought about what that means for you in about three years...as teens..okay, now I am back to being really impressed! This was a fun post, my daughter all through high school never wore matching socks, her take on it was that if she wore them unmatched, she never had to worry about matching the laundry. :) These sock people are cute and your daughter is very creative! wonder what she will do with the now stray sock that is in your sock drawer! :)

Wow. she's got some talent doesn't she (wonder where on Earth she gets that from, eh)?
It's probably a good thing I don't have your address or else there would be a rather large package on it's way to you full of stray socks! (As cute as that is goodness knows I don't have time to make them myself!)
;)
