The Joy of Physical Therapy

The Joy of Physical Therapy

Really, I do love my physical therapist. She's a lovely person and I'm sure we would be wonderful friends in the real world. But in her world, in that physical therapy center, all I want to do is finish and get out of there.

There is a sort of camaraderie in the PT center. Everybody is working to repair themselves. Sometimes, as we sit next to each other at the bikes or plod the treadmills, we chat, in that "what are you in here for" sort of way. Everyone clucks appreciatively at everyone else's infirmities.

The real business is over at the line of tables though. That's where we are variously massaged/stretched/manipulated by the therapists. I try not to make faces. Everyone tries not to make faces. We try to joke sometimes. But having someone move your bones and muscles past where they want to move takes the humor out of you.

I'm sure I'll be grateful when this is all over. Right now, not so much.

I don't know why but the pain scale bugs me.
My chiropractor was always asking me that.
Operative word WAS...no more chiropractor.
I hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry you are still enduring pain. After therapy was over, I missed my therapy buddies - and, get this, even my physical therapist and kinesiologist! Hang in there. This too shall end. And at least it's bloggable!!

You seem to be in relatively good spirits about it. I was much less...friendly...toward my PT. I believe I called him a *&$^ sadist one day. I'm pretty sure he gave me an extra ten minutes on the hellish electrocution machine.

Hang in there. Some day you'll look back at this and laugh. Right? =)

It has been many years but at Pt after a car accident I was such a mess that they just put warm moist towel and me and dabbed my tears away. It was like being in the care of angels. Hope you get done soon.

Hang in there. Every treatment is hopefully a step to a pain-free existence.

Ohhhh, I feel with you. But I really do like that sonic gizmo with the heat wrap, now that i will volunteer for any day, too bad they can't just do that one on every visit.
